MathHill Terms of Use

Effective September 21, 2026

These Terms of Use are an agreement between you and MathHill (“MathHill,” “we,” or “us”) covering mathhill.com, our free Playgrounds and online assessments, booking services, and online tutoring (together, the “Services”).

By using the Services, booking a session, or purchasing tutoring, you agree to these terms. If the student is under 18, a parent or legal guardian must agree on the student’s behalf.

What MathHill provides

MathHill provides teacher-led, one-to-one online math tutoring, diagnostic sessions, educational guidance, free practice activities, and free online assessments. Tutoring is tailored to the student, but MathHill does not guarantee a particular grade, test score, placement, admission result, or academic outcome. Online assessment results are an informal guide to skill areas that may need more practice, not a grade, placement, diagnosis, or formal evaluation.

MathHill supplements a student’s education. It does not replace the student’s school, teachers, required coursework, special-education services, or advice from a qualified educational, medical, or mental-health professional.

Parents, students, and bookings

A parent or guardian should submit enquiries and book tutoring for a minor student. The parent or guardian is responsible for providing accurate contact and scheduling information and telling us about learning needs that are reasonably necessary for tutoring. Students should attend from a safe and appropriate location with a reliable device and internet connection. A parent or responsible adult should remain reasonably available during a minor student’s online session, particularly for younger students.

The free first session is intended as an introductory diagnostic session. It is subject to tutor availability, is offered once per student unless MathHill agrees otherwise, and does not require the family to purchase additional tutoring.

Bookings may use third-party scheduling, calendar, email, and video-meeting services as described in the MathHill Privacy Policy. Use of those services may also be subject to the provider’s applicable terms and privacy practices.

Fees, payment, cancellations, and refunds

Current tutoring rates are shown on the MathHill website or confirmed when a session is booked. Payment arrangements and any package terms will be explained before a paid session. Prices may change for future bookings, but a change will not alter a session that has already been purchased and confirmed.

To cancel or reschedule without being charged, a parent or guardian must notify MathHill at least 24 hours before the scheduled start time. A session cancelled with less than 24 hours’ notice may be charged in full and is normally non-refundable. MathHill may make an exception for an emergency at its discretion.

If MathHill cancels a prepaid session, the family may choose a replacement session or a refund for that session. If there is a billing mistake or duplicate charge, contact us so we can investigate and correct it. Except where required by law or expressly agreed before purchase, completed tutoring sessions are non-refundable.

Session privacy and recordings

MathHill does not record tutoring sessions. Parents and students also may not record, livestream, photograph, or publicly share a tutoring session without MathHill’s prior written permission. Parents and students should avoid unnecessarily sharing sensitive personal information during a tutoring session or through third-party meeting tools.

Appropriate conduct

Students, parents, tutors, and staff are expected to communicate respectfully. Do not use the Services to harass others, share illegal or harmful material, impersonate another person, interfere with the website, bypass security, scrape or bulk-download content, or use MathHill for dishonest academic conduct.

MathHill may end or suspend access to a session or Service when reasonably necessary to protect a student, tutor, another person, the website, or MathHill’s legal rights. When practical, we will explain the reason to the parent or guardian.

Our educational content

The MathHill name, branding, curriculum, explanations, questions, graphics, videos, worksheets, Playgrounds, assessments, and website materials belong to MathHill or are used with permission. Families may use these materials for the student’s personal learning. Unless MathHill gives written permission, users may not sell, republish, publicly post, copy in bulk, scrape, modify for commercial use, or distribute MathHill materials to others. Schoolwork and other materials supplied by a student remain the property of their respective owners.

Third-party services

MathHill uses outside services for functions such as scheduling, video meetings, email, hosting, and analytics. Those services may receive information as described in the MathHill Privacy Policy, and their own terms and privacy policies may also apply. MathHill is not responsible for an interruption or problem caused solely by a third-party service outside our reasonable control, but we will make reasonable efforts to help reschedule an affected tutoring session.

Website, Playground, and assessment availability

We work to keep the website, Playgrounds, and online assessments useful and available, but they may occasionally be interrupted, changed, or removed. Free activities may be updated or discontinued. MathHill is not responsible for ordinary internet, device, or connection problems outside our control.

Disclaimers and limits

The Services are provided on an “as available” basis. To the fullest extent permitted by law, MathHill disclaims warranties that are not expressly stated in these terms.

To the fullest extent permitted by law, MathHill’s total liability arising from the Services will not exceed the amount the family paid MathHill during the twelve months before the event giving rise to the claim. This limitation does not apply to liability that cannot legally be limited or excluded.

Privacy

MathHill’s collection and handling of personal information through the website and Services are described in the MathHill Privacy Policy. The Privacy Policy explains, among other things, contact and booking information, optional website analytics, Playground activity counts, how online assessments handle answers, service providers, information relating to children, retention, and available privacy choices. Parents and guardians should review the Privacy Policy before submitting personal information about a child.

Texas law

These terms are governed by Texas law, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Any dispute that cannot be resolved informally will be handled in a court with proper jurisdiction in Harris County, Texas, unless applicable law requires otherwise.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms as MathHill develops. Material changes will be posted with a new effective date and, when appropriate, communicated directly to affected families. Changes apply going forward and do not rewrite completed purchases.
